Malawi is one of the poorest countries in the world—currently ranked as the 3rd poorest. Nearly 1 in 3 people, about 5.7 million, lack access to clean water close to home. Even more alarming, over 10.4 million people—more than half the population—live without a proper toilet. Each year, around 1,000 children under the age of five lose their lives to diarrhea caused by unsafe water, inadequate sanitation, and poor hygiene. Through our clean water project, we focus on restoring broken boreholes in rural villages. Just one repaired borehole can provide clean, life-saving water to approximately 500 people
